Fencing in Dundee
Ardilla Landscapes supplies, fits, and repairs fencing across Dundee and the surrounding area. We work with any fence type: closeboard, feather edge, panel, post and rail, trellis, and more. If you need a new fence, a gate added, or an existing fence repaired or replaced, one call gets it sorted.
We remove old fencing, set posts correctly, and leave a clean site. All waste is taken away. You get a written quote before any work begins and we do not start until you have agreed the price.
What's Included
What We Include in Every Fencing Job
A fence that fails within a few years is almost always down to how the posts were set. We do the job properly from the ground up.
Old fence removal
We remove and dispose of your existing fence before starting. Posts, panels, concrete, and all associated materials are taken away. You do not need to arrange a skip or clear anything before we arrive.
Post setting
Posts are set at the correct depth and spacing for the fence type and height. We use concrete where needed to ensure the posts are stable and will not shift or lean. This is the step that determines how long the fence lasts.
Panel or board installation
We fit your chosen fence type to the posts. Whether that is panel fencing, closeboard, feather edge, post and rail, or trellis, the boards and panels are fitted level, secure, and to a clean finish.
Gate fitting
We fit gates to match the fence where needed. Single and double gates, with appropriate posts and hardware. We set gates to hang correctly and swing freely without sagging.
Repairs and part replacement
Not every fence needs a full replacement. Where an existing fence is structurally sound but has damaged or rotten sections, we carry out repairs and replace what needs replacing. We will tell you honestly whether a repair makes sense or whether a replacement is the better option.
All waste removed
All old fencing, posts, and installation waste are removed and taken away when we leave. The site is clean before we go.

Why Choose Ardilla
Any Fence Type, Done Properly
We do not specialise in one fence type and try to sell you that. If you tell us what you need (privacy, security, a boundary marker, a decorative finish) we will tell you what suits the job and give you options. We work with all standard timber fence types and can advise on what holds up best in Scottish weather.
Family run from Dairsie, Fife. Our team covers Dundee every day and handles every fencing job from first post to last panel. We do not subcontract, and we do not leave until the site is clean.

Common Fence Types We Install
Closeboard and feather edge
The most common choice for garden boundaries in Dundee. Overlapping vertical boards give good privacy and hold up well in wind. Solid and long-lasting when the posts are set correctly.
Panel fencing
Faster to install than closeboard. Good for standard garden boundaries where cost and speed matter. Less durable in exposed positions but a practical choice for most sheltered gardens.
Post and rail
Open fencing for field boundaries, rural plots, and properties where you want to mark a boundary without blocking the view. Often used alongside hedging.
Trellis and decorative fencing
Used for garden screening, climbing plants, and decorative boundaries. We fit trellis as a standalone fence or on top of existing fence panels to add height.

Common Questions
Fencing FAQs
- What types of fencing do you install in Dundee?
- We install all common timber fence types including closeboard, feather edge, panel fencing, post and rail, and trellis. If you are not sure which type suits your property, call us and we will give you a straightforward recommendation based on what you need the fence to do.
- Can you repair an existing fence rather than replace it?
- Yes, where it makes sense. If the posts are sound and only sections of the fence are damaged or rotten, a repair is often the better option. We will look at the fence and tell you honestly whether a repair is worth doing or whether a full replacement will save you money over the next few years.
- Do you fit gates?
- Yes. We supply and fit single and double gates to match the fence. Posts for gate openings are set specifically to take the weight and movement of a gate, and the hardware is fitted so the gate hangs correctly from day one.
- Do you need planning permission to put up a fence in Dundee?
- In most cases, no. Garden fences up to 2 metres high do not require planning permission in Scotland. Fences over 2 metres, or any fence fronting a road or footpath over 1 metre, may need permission. If you are unsure about your specific situation, we can advise when we visit.
- How long does fence installation take?
- Most standard garden fence replacements are completed in a single day. Larger jobs or those involving multiple gates may take two days. We will give you a clear timeline when we quote so you know what to expect.
